Steroids VS Natural Bodybuilding: Your Guide to Understanding

The primary point of disagreement among bodybuilding bros is whether or not to use steroids in bodybuilding. Should you strive to compete at the top without using any drugs, or is there no purpose in even trying? Can a natural bodybuilder ever come close to reaching a steroid user’s size? The debate between natural and synthetic hormones seems never-ending.

Thus, boys and gals, you get to decide whether you like the rush of roids or natural bodybuilding. There is no condemnation here since it is your body, so do whatever the f*ck you want with it! Make sure you understand why you are doing whatever you decide to do.

Natural vs. Steroids: A Scientific Comparison

But first, let’s compare steroid use to natural bodybuilding and see what the scientific community has to say about it before we delve further into the dark side of steroid use.

You can certainly find a ton of research discussing the negative affects and risks of steroids if you search Google. A study that contrasts natural with synthetic and considers BOTH SIDES is something you don’t see very frequently.

Fortunately, eleven academics agreed to collaborate and conduct a thorough study to finally put an end to our questions.

43 healthy men were divided into 4 groups at random for the study. These were the groups:

  • Natural placebo with no workout
  • Injection of a testosterone steroid without exercise
  • Natural placebo plus workout
  • Exercise combined with testosterone steroid (injection)

The guys were given either actual steroid injections for the entire 10 weeks or only placebo injections, which included no active ingredients. Three times a week, the males in the workout groups would work out. The men underwent a complete physical examination soon before and just after the experiment, during which measurements were made of the men’s muscle size, arm and leg strength, fat-free mass, and muscle size.

The first group, which is naturally active, naturally does nothing. You won’t develop muscle if you don’t do anything!

Steroid Side Effects And Risks

Unfortunately, there is a drawback to using steroids, just like with many other enjoyable things in life (beers, burgers, chocolate, etc.). When we take it, we LOVE it, but when the adverse effects appear, we HATE it. It’s the hangover with beers, the fat in burgers, and the blood sugar levels with chocolate.

There is a lengthy, long list of hazards, dangers, and adverse effects associated with steroid use. The eight primary negative effects of steroids were covered in more detail in a previous piece, but we won’t go into that much detail today. Let’s just give you the list instead, quickly and simply.

Apologies if I just got you all pumped up about steroids; now let me spill the beans. Following that, natural bodybuilding will suddenly look quite enticing.

Consequences of steroid use include:

  • Swelling and bloating
  • Acne
  • Weight gain and increased hunger
  • Flushing and perspiration
  • Issues with the eyes, such as light sensitivity
  • Dizziness
  • Gynaecomastia (Man boobs)
  • Headaches
  • Elevated blood pressure
  • Nausea
  • Insomnia
  • Diabetes
  • Hepatic tocixity
  • Irritability
  • Depression
  • Hair loss

Do you still think steroids sound amazing, or are you starting to lean more toward natural bodybuilding? Let’s not mince words: there is no denying that using steroids carries a long list of hazards, many of which are supported by science.

But remember that these are only potential negative effects. In other words, using steroids increases your likelihood of experiencing certain negative effects but does not guarantee you will. According to certain research, including this one, the health risks connected to anabolic steroid use may possibly be exaggerated. Ultimately, you must determine whether it is worthwhile to take a chance on these symptoms. Well, if that’s the case, go for it!

Steroid use in sports is a further risk of steroids that we haven’t yet covered. We’re talking about professional competitive sports right now, not about going to the gym three times a week. Whether you are a bodybuilder or a boxer. Whether competing in a marathon or cycling across France, using steroids is prohibited in the majority of professional sports.

If you play in the major leagues, you must submit to regular drug tests to ensure that you haven’t been abusing substances that could improve your performance. You are eliminated from the competition if you test positive for doping. Imagine all the time and effort you put into rising to the top being in vain because you were unable to maintain your natural state. Would you take a chance?

Our Tips For Those Just Beginning

The good, the terrible, and the ugly have all been discussed. We considered our alternatives after looking at the enormous advantages that can be achieved with steroids as well as their drawbacks. What should I choose: natural or steroids?

You could find it difficult to distinguish between the forest and the trees if you’re just getting started because there is a LOT of information to take in.

It’s challenging. Do you strive for the greatest gains at any costs, or do you prefer to accept a little less in order to minimize the risks? There is neither judgment nor good or evil. It’s okay to juice or to keep natty; both options are acceptable. Yet if we were to offer you any ONE piece of advise, it would be this:

If you want to become a professional athlete, you should maintain your natural appearance. Sure, many of the greatest athletes have used steroids to succeed, but many more have never even had the opportunity to do so since they were disqualified from competing in their sport before they had a chance to make it big!
